Forecast final finished fabric dimensions post-dyeing, washing, and heat-setting. Stop the guesswork in your procurement pipeline.
In textile manufacturing, the transition from Greige (Raw) to Finished fabric involves intense mechanical and chemical stress. Heat-setting for polyesters or Sanforizing for cottons can significantly alter the final yardage. Our matrix uses standard tension loss coefficients to help you calculate exactly how much raw material to order to meet your final garment production targets.
Greige is the raw fabric directly off the loom or knitting machine. It hasn't been dyed, bleached, or finished. It always contains natural waxes or sizing chemicals that are removed during finishing, causing shrinkage.
Weft (width) shrinkage is controlled using a Stenter machine. By adjusting the overfeed and width settings on the stenter, mills can "fix" the fabric at a specific dimension.
